Yesterday

Hey guys,

Yesterday I took a photo on my phone at :45 of each hour in the day, except 7:45 pm because I guess things got a little crazy just then. It was just a fun little project to see what a day in our life is like.
Here are the results:

8:45...kids are off to school so I get my tablet ready to show some youtube exercises. Baby is my helper. And that's the cutest reflection I've ever seen:

9:45...done exercising, dressing Baby, eating breakfast, and showering!:

10:45...Playing outside so Baby stops whining about going out. Plus it's warmish and sunny. Plus Pluto needed some ball chasing time:

11:45...We're back from picking up Hammer from school and now we're trying to decide what to have for lunch:

12:45...Baby's just laid down for a nap and you two boys are playing so nicely downstairs!:

1:45...Read Hammer's school book together:

2:45...Since I fell asleep reading Hammer's book in the previous picture, I took a nap on the couch! It was so nice, even though I was awakened multiple times by two boys playing outside. Finally at 2:45 the nap was really over since I had to go discipline Pluto for digging under the fence!:

3:45...Baby's up, boys are watching tv, and the basement's a mess!:

4:45...Lulu's home! Spelling homework:

5:45...Lulu's in the middle of her swimming lesson!:

6:45...Dad made dinner and now he's trying to convince Mr T that the fried rice is good! Lulu liked it with spicy sauce:

7:45...Practice piano with Grandma over the phone to prepare for Saturday's musical number and get kids to brush teeth and get Baby to eat a snack.
8:45...The house is dark and quiet, finally, and I put the blankets in the dryer that I had forgotten to switch out hours before.

There's a typical day for ya. Pretty exciting that we got to get outside in the sun, that I got a little nap, and that Lulu had swimming!
Love you all,
Mom

LoVE

Dear Kids,

It's Valentine's day! Dad I and don't celebrate Valentine's too much since we both love to receive little thoughtful gifts or cards on a random day when we're not expected to. You know what I mean? But we do still take a little time on Valentine's Day to write a note and express our deep love and commitment to each other. I know you can see and feel that love and I'm so grateful that I can raise my kids in such a happy home. You are lucky, and I am so lucky!
Since Valentine's Day is a day of expressing love, I took some time this morning to make a list of things that I love in life. Of course number 1, 2, and 3, are God, Daddy, and you guys.

I love...
.making lists
.a clean and organized house
.pluto
.how I feel after I exercise
.chatting on a deep level with a good friend
.the peace in the temple
.creating something beautiful for my home
.when I can't stop laughing with Dad
.trying a new recipe and everyone loves it
.the look in someone's eye when you do something unexpected for them
.milkshakes
.enya
.thunder
.planning a vacation
.seeing the stars with no light pollution
.getting the perfect photo
.feeling the spirit through music
.inside jokes
.getting caught up in the characters of a book or show
.freshly bathed babies in their jammies
.pizza
.4th of july

There's a start. I could go on and on. Maybe I will continue next Valentine's Day!
Love you all so much,
Mom

Lulu, you are 8!

My dear Lulu,

You turned 8 last week! Since this year is not the year we have a friends party, we tried to do lots of fun stuff.
On your birthday we had pancakes with sprinkles for breakfast. You were excited to open Great Grandma's present before school, and loved the toys she gave you:
I had taped balloons up around the house and you loved finding those too:
You took treats to your class along with a worksheet all about you that you had filled out. It was also the 100th day of school so the whole school was celebrating. You got lost of treats.

You came home with a crown, a giant pixie stick from your teacher, and a book where each classmate wrote out a birthday wish for you.

When Dad was home from work and Grandma and Grandpa were here, you opened presents

and we had cake!

You loved everything you got from us: a new dress, a watch, a kendama, slippers, and a stuffed animal. You also loved your gifts from Grandma: bath gels, your own cook book, and a new outfit.
Grandpa and Dad enjoyed reading your book of birthday wishes:
and then Grandpa painted your nails with your new polish after you painted Grandma's:

Then you chose Taco Bell for your dinner. After we drove all the way there we changed our minds since they were having issues there and it wasn't worth waiting 20 minutes for their tacos. Chick Fil A is close by so you chose that instead.
The next day was Friday. You got home early from school since it was Friday and Dad took the day off! When Grammie came you opened her present, an Elsa dress up! It's so beautiful and you really love it.

Once Baby woke up from his nap we were off for an adventure downtown. We went to the planetarium since we had never been there before! We had a great time, and everyone loved taking a quick ride on a Trax train!

Then Saturday it was more partying! After a birthday photo shoot with me, you went to lunch at the Training Table with Grandma and Grandpa! What a fun tradition these birthday lunches are turning into:

Monday we went to the library so you could get your very own library card! Here you are with your new library bag from Grandma that is holding 2 books and a movie that you checked out on your very own card!:

Lulu, you feel like such a big girl now. You try to read and write quickly, like you're almost an adult I suppose. You get your own library card, you don't have to use a booster seat, and you get to stay up a little later than your brothers! You also shower all by yourself, even washing your long hair without help. You even get to go to Activity Days now! There are so many exciting things about turning 8 and getting older, but getting baptized has to be the most exciting part. We are planning your baptism right now. It's still 3 weeks away, but we are practicing your musical number that you will sing and your photo shoot was in your white dress!
Look how beautiful the pictures turned out. I'll post some here and save some for a baptism blog post:

Lulu, you really are such a beautiful girl, inside and out.
You are gentle and kind and silly. You love making people happy. You are easily embarrassed and soft spoken usually, if people are not making annoying sounds. You have an aversion to that and it sometimes makes you crazy! You are sensitive and sometimes that tends to lend itself to your feelings being hurt. I love that you are sensitive though. It is a wonderful quality that makes you an awesome sister and will make you the sweetest wife and mother. For now we just need to work on standing up for yourself and learning that you can take control of your attitude! You can choose to focus on the positive and to be happy.
At 8 years old you still love friends and play dates.
You enjoy school, even though I can tell you sometimes have a hard time concentrating. I'm glad you don't get frustrated with that, and I hope it will never make you make you feel inferior or make you dislike school. You are so smart, don't forget that.
You are learning the piano and doing great with that. You have a sweet voice and you like to sing.
You love to help cook and make treats. You and Hammer often pretend our kitchen is a restaurant and you are the patrons. You have a very active imagination.
You love riding your bike and swimming and dancing.
You love playing games, either on the computer or the Fire or board and card games for Family Game Night.
You love art, even if everything you do is rushed. Maybe that's just your style! You really love it when you and I have painting lessons, or make cards together.
You still like Barbies and dress ups.
You love having your nails done and wearing dresses and having pretty hair, although you hate it when I brush it in the mornings. You asked Dad on Sunday why you can't wear make up yet! We're not ready for you to grow up that much yet! But I do love that you are feminine and that you believe you are beautiful.
You love your brothers a lot and I love watching you play with each of them. You are still a great helper to me and I love that you want to be my best friend. Sometimes you get sad when I do things with friends in the evening and you are not invited, but you are learning that moms need to have a social life sometimes too! You really love your individual dates with me or Dad. I hope that you will always love spending time with us, even when you are a teenager. You know that we think you are a special part of our family. You are the princess and we love you so much.
Happy Birthday my girly,
Mom

Life, According to my phone:

Looking handsome in a Mexican shirt from Grandma

Hammer's birthday poster

Hammer chose Subway for his birthday dinner!

Using Hammer's new gift, a karaoke machine!

I found this guy at the grocery store on clearance and couldn't pass him up for my snowman mantle

Hammer's free birthday cupcake from Barnes and Noble

Hammer's birthday lunch with Grandma and Grandpa!

Mr T, you wanted to help me mop one day

Mr T drew a guy with sticking up hair at church

Lulu, you went to a birthday party and we found this cute cake decorating kit for you to take for the present

Dad helps Hammer read his homework book

My hair after I slept in braids

Lulu, I liked how you spelled "make believe"

Sorry buddy. Your brothers got to you. Luckily it wiped right off!

I finally caved in and bathed Pluto, It was a nasty job, especially the clean up part.

Lulu, you and I had a date to Burger King for a yummy shake!

After the shake we picked up a Bountiful Basket. The carrots were massive! Look, they're bigger than the corn on the cob

Swimming lessons started and this little buddy had to just run around while what he really wanted to do was jump in too!

I made this for my cousin for a wedding shower gift.

Grandpa took you guys to the cool store by his house while the bridal shower was going on. You got to pose with an elk! Cousin Allie came along too

Look at that shark you caught!

And you two girls played dress ups at Grandma's too

We made stuffed jalapenos with some peppers from our B Basket. They were so spicy and so good!

Gotta squeeze into that box.  Boxes make the best toys

Look what happened downstairs while I was reading my book upstairs! Messy messy messy.

My two artists

The kids in school who got Reflection Awards

Dad and I were sure proud of you for getting another award!

Mr T, we went to the zoo for you to see this guy.

This orangutan was just sitting there staring at us through the window

It was totally sweet

Another silverback picture for you Mr T

Hammer, nice polar bear pose

Last day of swimming lessons!

Baby, it's a good thing you were really worried about stairs and you would just stop there while you decided the best way to get in the pool. That gave me enough time to catch up to you and convince you to run somewhere else along the side of the pool.

Learning to kick correctly

Hi mom!

Playing a game with the boys in your class

Trying to keep Baby busy during swimming!

Lulu can float on her back!

So that's it! It was a great month!
Love you,
Mom
