Snow Family

We haven't had much chance to play out in the snow this winter. Not that there hasn't been snow around, we actually hadn't seen our grass since almost Christmas. But the highs have been below freezing, which does not make for fun outside weather. We've been bundled up inside until the past week when it finally warmed up and melted all the nasty old snow. Then we got a new storm today. Lulu wanted to go out and build snowmen. It seemed much more tempting than cleaning the house, so while Buddy was sleeping we did just that. We made one snowman and said, wow, that was quick and easy! Let's make another! It was prime snowman building snow. So we made another, and another, until we had a whole family.

Each snowman was crafted to look just like one of our family members, and we even included a baby snowman stuck to the mommy snowman's belly. Lulu didn't want it in the mommy's arms, it needed to be in the belly still:

Lulu just loved them:

When Buddy woke up he came out and observed the snowmen before they completely melted. He almost froze to death, even though he had two coats on and was wearing Lulu's boots. I guess coming straight from your bed outside wasn't the best idea. But he needed to behold our masterpiece.

Pregnancy Makes Me Dumb

For example:
- I completely forgot to take Lulu to dance, twice. I remembered in the mornings, and it's written on my calendar, but when Buddy wakes up I just space it.
- Does that flashing stop sign sticking out of the school bus that I am trying to pass mean that I need to stop?
- I started a quesadilla and left it in the pan while it was heating up, and left it there until our whole house was smokey. The tortilla was not salvageable.
- I started heating a frying pan to cook pancakes, and left it on the burner. For a long long time. I didn't remember until it smelled like a curling iron in my house. Good thing nothing was burning in the pan and the pan actually survived.
-I get these great idea for a post, but I can't get them out. When I type, it comes out so lame, or I forget where I was going with that thought. Which happens ALL THE TIME when I'm talking now. Even mid-sentence sometimes. "Did I tell you....I forgot what I was going to say."

Pregnancy also makes me ravenous. And lazy. Oh so lazy. Like I can't get off the couch even though I need to go make lunch. Or washing the dishes by hand just seems so menial. The past few weeks I have luckily had more energy if I get a good night's sleep (rare).
I mean, normally I'm forgetful and lazy but it's even worse now.
However, I'll take spacey and lazy over sick any day.

It's A....

IMG_9121
We made these cupcakes to celebrate!
IMG_9125
And shared them with a few friends.
Yes, we are excited for another little boy. I think that my two boys will be great little buddies, and Lulu is such a sweet loving sister (usually) that she'll do just great.
Our baby is supposedly the length of a canteloupe:

That pretty big! But the little man is all curled up in a tight ball in there, and I'm just starting to really show. I can feel him though. He lets me know he's in there!
Here's a little mug shot from the ultrasound today:
img023
and I won't post the picture where he showed us he's definitely a boy, seems a little inappropriate. But he sure wasn't shy about it!
What a cutie pie. He kept waving at us and yawning. Pretty big yawns. I didn't know fetus' even yawned, there's no oxygen to breathe in, so is it just reflex? Hmmm. Maybe he was just opening his mouth, trying to say hi. Or stop smashing me.
Now we get to try to settle on a name. Good thing we still have 20 weeks to decide.

Saturday's Project

I made some hooded towels for the kids this weekend. It was a lot faster and easier than I thought it would be! I felt like a sewing machine pro! (which I'm definitely not). The hardest part was adding the ears and tails, since I made that part up.
Here's the finished project:

Food Art

First of all, I'm an idea stealer. So watch out what you post on your blog! :)
I know, in reality isn't that what blogging is about? Sharing ideas? I think so.
One of my favorite blogs that I read, see here, had this idea. Sarah makes art out of the lunches she makes for her kids. I thought: my kids would love that. So, we've tried it out a few times the past 2 months.
The first ones are a little rough, but just watch. They'll get better with time.
Lulu loves it too, although she can't tell what it's supposed to be sometimes. But 2 of them are basically abstract art, so that's to be expected.
Can you tell what they are?

Cute idea huh?
Go ahead, steal the idea and make some of your own food art too!

Turning 2

Here's how Buddy's big day played out:

- Wake up, get dressed, and have cereal while listening to his favorite music
-Help mom make the cake
- Library story time
-Stop at Smith's to buy birthday balloons
-Stop at Little Caesar's so we can take pizza home for a special birthday lunch!
IMG_9044
-Nap time, while mom cleans up more and works on the cake (I blurred out most of his name on the red. You know, just in case. And I think it would have turned out a little cuter had I used two cakes so the layers were taller, but I didn't want that much cake left over! Oh well, live and learn. Buddy loved it and it actually was just the right amount of cake for our little party):
cake
-Wake up and play with Lulu, Grammie and cousin Anya
-Daddy's home! Open gifts: (I like how Lulu and Anya are so interested in what he's opening)

-Other guests arrive, time to party! Sing Happy Birthday and blow out his candle:

-Enjoy cake and ice cream with our friends and family:

-Say bye to Grammie and Anya:
