The New Baby

Dear Family,

He's finally here! Our new baby came home with Mommy from the hospital just 2 days ago. Lulu and Hammer, you two were in love.  You call him "The New Baby" and want to hold him and touch him a lot. Mr T, you seemed a little confused by it all.  You knew he was a baby, but you were kind of grossed out by him and did not want to hold him.  You are already starting to warm up to him though! You did kiss his hair yesterday. Lulu, yesterday was your first day of school and you know what the first thing you said was when you walked in the door? "Where's the new baby?" I knew you would.  You love school but you will be excited to come home every day and see him won't you?
Grammie stayed at our house and watched you while Dad and I were at the hospital Friday afternoon.  Baby was born at 9:11 at night on August 23rd.  He was a big baby! He weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces.  That's a whole pound heavier than any of you other kids!
Here's a picture of him right after he came out of my belly:
After they weighed him and put medicine in his eyes Daddy got a turn to hold him:
He was a good baby in the hospital.  He's healthy and so is mom! Baby looks like our family, but he has dark hair! Isn't he cute?:
Sunday we brought him home in the new outfit that Hammer picked out for him:
Lulu is in love:
Hammer has another brother!:

Here he is again, in his little dump truck coming-home-outfit:
We are all loving this little guy:
Even you too finally, Mr T:
Two more pictures.
Here he is napping in mommy's room today:
He is so handsome:
Welcome Home New Baby! We all love you so much!

The End

Dear Lulu,

It's almost the end...
The end of my big baby-belly,
The end of summer vacation,
The end of watching PBS kids every morning,
The end of living in flip-flops,
The end of homework-free days,
The end of you having your own room...
Life as you have known it for the past few months is just about to change.
Are you ready for it?
I think you are.  It's been fun to not have a schedule and to play a lot. Plus it's always great to be able to ride bikes and play on the swings and go swimming.
But I think you are ready for the change too. You are ready for a little more structure. You are ready to be a big girl that is gone to school all day! You are not nervous about it at all. You love learning and friends.  You also love babies and being my helper and ask me all the time when our baby will be here.  I know you're going to love that change.
So let's enjoy our last few days of summer life cuz we're in for a whirlwind change before we know it!
Love you my sweetie,
Mom

July Edition

Life Lately,
according to my phone:

We play outside A LOT in the mornings, but we need to drink a lot too since it's hot!!!

Sending a picture of my baby belly to my sister

When it gets too hot, we play downstairs. Mr T dresses up as Batman.

Going shopping with Daddy

Lulu helped make the invitations for her Tea Party Brunch

Auntie comes to visit and sends me pictures from her phone

Slip N Slide in the front yard with the neighbors

  Mr T likes chili!

Burger King ice cream and playing on the toys! A pretty exciting outing

Hammer is still in love with potato bugs and wants me to take pictures of them in the kitchen

Out to eat with Grandma and Grandpa after a fun zoo visit

Mr T loves the fish at Scheels

Grandma puts Aunt Laura and the two oldest kids on the Ferris Wheel at Scheels!

My attempt at firecracker cookies for the 24th of July. They were good, but you need to sprinkle the pop rocks on right before you eat them, ours were all popped out and soggy.

Mr T's adorable face

I love it when Lulu leaves me cute notes. "I love mommy very much."

Yay for a fun July!  Even though it was really hot and I am great with child, we still got out and did a lot of fun things!  I love summer, don't you guys?
Love you,
Mom

10 years!

Dear Kids,

Today is a special day. It's been 10 years since Dad and I were married!  10! That's a long time huh?  It seems like we've been married forever and yet it's gone by quickly at the same time.  That's how life always is I guess.
I remember when I realized that my Mom and Dad hadn't always lived together- that at some point they must not have even know each other!  In my short life they had always been a couple living a shared life and raising their kids together around the world.  Some day that strange thought will occur to you about me and Dad.  You will think it's strange that our lives haven't always revolved around each other. We chose this life!
Did you know in some countries people still don't get to choose who they marry?  Their marriages are arranged for them! I am so grateful that I was able to choose my husband.  And boy did I make a good choice! It's common to hear people say that they love someone more each day. It's kind of cliche, but it's true. I loved Dad when I married him, but I love him even more now! He is an amazing man and I'm so glad that he's setting the bar high for you guys.
Lulu, I know you will want to marry a man like your father.  You deserve to be treated like a princess, the way Dad treats me.  He tells me every single day that he loves me.  He tells me how beautiful I am, even on days when I haven't tried to get ready. He never raises his voice at me. He wants to hold me close and kiss me every day. He tells me that I'm doing a great job being a mom and a wife. He tells me all the time how he feels lucky to be with me.  Did you know he even writes me love letters sometimes? He makes me feel so happy and loved, and I'm excited for you to feel that way too.
And to my boys, Hammer and Mr T, Dad is showing you how to be a good man. I will be so pleased to watch you follow in his footsteps and become loving husbands.  Not only that, but how to be a hard worker too.  Dad wakes up early and works through his lunch so he can come home and spend time with us.  He doesn't have his dream job, but he chose a career that will support his family. He is dependable and on time and honest and does his best at work.  And then after working hard all day, he comes home and helps me! He doesn't wait for me to ask for help with the dishes, or help folding clothes, or taking out the garbage. If he sees something that needs to be done, he just does it! He makes dinner every night for us, and he takes care of our yard.  He also shows you what it means to be a Priesthood holder.  He accepts any calling and fulfills it completely.  He goes to the temple, even when I can't go with him. He is careful with what movies he watches and the books he reads and the language he uses.
I could go on and on with even more of Dad's good qualities, but just this much will probably embarrass him already.  I'm not saying that Dad is perfect, or that Lulu will find the perfect man, or that my boys will grow up to be perfect.  Nobody in this life is prefect.  But Dad is definitely on the right track. He tries to better himself and improve, which is yet again another amazing quality. I thank God for having him in my life and for being a wonderful example for my kids. I love him completely!
